Brief Overview

India is the second most populous country in the world after China. India’s population as of 2015 was 1.3 billion. The majority of the population lives in rural areas with rural population accounting for 67.2% of the total population. Urban population is about 32.7% of the total. India’s most populated cities are Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, and Hyderabad.

In this page, we represent the data published by the World Bank and the Central Statistical Organisation(CSO) on a yearly basis on the population of India. Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India also publishes the Census of Indian population every 10 Years.
